Hive Watch 2007

Maybe officially over soon. Sources close to me say that the steroids may be working and the threat may be over soon.

I celebrated by buying lipgloss. Maybe I'll even be able to exfoliate my face today.

Day 7 of Hives Watch 2007

So...yesterday morning I was suppose to be on a flight from here to Arizona, on my first big work trip - but the hives had a different idea.

On Monday they took over my face with a vengeance, then by night they traveled down to my legs with no mercy. The welts were phenomenally swollen and painful. I soaked in a bath of lukewarm water and baking soda to ease the pain, and then had to call my boss at my NEW company (of which I've only been working 3 weeks) that I could NOT go on this work trip due to the hives.

Now I've very afraid my days might be numbered.

---

In other news, I've signed up to be a "Big Sister" and I have my interview next week. It's 90 minutes, and sounds ominous. We'll see.

So I have hives. They're really bad.

I initially broke out Thursday night after eating dinner at Lucille's. It started on my back and then ended up on my face.

Last night, my legs broke out really bad, suddenly. I took some Benadryl and I thought it would go away by the time I woke up, but it was still there. I don't think taking a hot shower helped either - which I just learned, thank to the interweb.

So since noon, the hives have been slowly but surely developing on my face. They're on the left side of my face, but now they're appearing on the right side.

I am one unhappy person - that looks Thing from Fantastic Four.

In my TUMMY

This is my favorite recipe for Shepherd's Pie.

It's my favorite meal, but only homemade versions will do. Every restaurant variety I've had was soggy and the flavors didn't mesh well.

Albondigas are also a favorite.

One thing that I find is unfortunate when I am cooking both these dishes is that they take around an hour to make, and by the time I'm done with them, I'm not so hungry anymore. I think inhaling all the ingredients does something to my brain.

I know what I'm cooking tomorrow.

Writer's Block: By Any Other Name

If you could rename yourself in real life, what would you choose, and why?

I'd probably call myself Miranda. That's one of the names circled in the baby book name my mom had, around the time I was born.

Other names that were circled were: Zena & Layla

Pee Adventures

No matter how far away I go from home, there is always an incredible sense of relief when I get home.

Except when I can't get relief.

Friday night I went out to Hollywood. We went to Geisha House for dinner, then walked up and down the boulevard looking for somewhere to dance. Afterwards someone had the need to go to Korea town for yogurt.
As we traveled up and down the freeway, I felt the urge. The impending need to...go.

We exited the freeway and drove aimlessly through one of the scariest places I have ever seen. Every gas station that we stopped by was home to at least 4 sketchy looking gentlemen.

I've never felt more rejected in my whole life. An assortment of men and women, at EIGHT gas stations refused my pleas to allow me to pee. By the sixth place we visited, I was nearly on the verge of tears. Not due to rejection, being scared, or extremely exhausted (I was all the above though); it was just because I needed to pee so damn bad.

The only reason I didn't drop trow and pee just anywhere, is that every side street we could find was so sketchy.

Finally we found a doughnut shop just before Compton, inhabited by a kindly man and a woman I believe was a hooker, buying some glazed doughnuts.

I love Compton. I've always loved Compton. It's not as bad as people think and the songs say. There are places of Orange County that are worse than Compton.
